BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT PHILOSOPHY
In my classroom, positive and responsible student behavior will be my main focus in order to ensure a successful learning environment. From the first day of school, and throughout the remainder of the year, I will model, encourage and acknowledge positive behavior in the classroom, making students responsible for their own behavior.
IMPLEMENTATION
The first step I will take is to develop “house rules” with my students on the first day of class. Students will work in groups to brainstorm rules for the classroom. These rules should be based on respect for their peers and to me as a teacher. I will also develop my own set of “house rules,” where I explain how I plan to show respect to my students. This will show the students that the rules do not just apply to them, but to me as well.

If a student misbehaves or breaks one of the “house rules,” I will not call them out in class, but instead, meet with them individually before or after class to try and understand their side of the issue and create a way to prevent the negative behavior from repeating itself with an appropriate consequence. On the other hand, if a student is playing by the “house rules,” I will encourage them with positive reinforcement, such as verbal recognition in front of the class, or a personal letter, depending on their personality. I will follow the behavior management policies that are set forth by my school and district.
BULLYING POLICY
I will follow the bullying policy and procedures set forth by my school district.
