COMMUNICATION PHILOSOPHY

 

In order for a classroom to run smoothly, my students and their guardians must feel comfortable approaching me if they have a question, comment or concern. In order to set this tone, I will email my students’ guardians at the start of the semester (see letter to parents) to let them know how and when they can contact me.

 

I will also pick a student from each class period who made great academic or social strides and call his or her guardians at the end of each week. I think it is important to call to share positive news, so guardians feel that the teacher is on their team. For my students, I will establish office hours, where they can get help on their school work or simply have a safe place to relax.

 

Additionally, I will let my students know I will respond to them within 24 hours. I believe creating a positive line of communication will lead to an environment where all my students and their guardians feel cared for and heard.
